Every child deserves to be heard

Children have thoughts, ideas, feelings and needs that deserve to be heard loud and clear.

AAC isn’t just another device; it’s their voice and gives them the opportunity to communicate what they want to say, to whomever they want to say it to, whenever they want to say it.

By guiding, supporting and sharing knowledge with parents and carers, The AAC Advocates champions communication no matter what age or ability.

Founded on expertise, built on passion

I'm Aoife, a clinical specialist Speech & Language Therapist, founder of Sparking Speech, mum and creator of The AAC Advocates.

After graduating in 2012 with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy and working in the NHS, I returned to Ireland in 2020 and founded Sparking Speech to provide families with evidence-based support.

But I quickly realised how many families were navigating AAC completely alone while waiting lists continued to grow.

So I created The AAC Advocates to combine my specialist knowledge and evidence-based practice into a monthly membership that gives parents ongoing training, support, and personalised feedback so they can support their children’s communication and language development.

What our members have to say...

Member Feedback.

"The membership gives monthly support and resources for a very fair price especially where 1:1 parent or child appointments aren't always needed."

Member Feedback.

"Aoife's knowledge of AAC and gestalt language processing is amazing and has given us as parents the confidence to support our little boy."

Member Feedback.

"Having a digital platform makes the AAC Advocates ideal for me. Being a single parent to 3 autistic children can sometimes feel lonely but this group is so supportive."

The AAC Advocates Approach

Neuro-affirmative

This is a space for everyone to show up, share and feel safe. Every training and resource follows a neuro-affirmative approach so you can implement it into your daily life and regular routines.

Knowledge Sharing

There should be no such thing as gatekeeping when it comes to AAC. Your child deserves the ability to communicate, however that looks and you deserve the support to help them on their journey.

Connection

The connections you make within our community group are a reminder that you don’t have to figure this out on your own. Support, guidance and advice is always there when you need it.
